The BLOODHOUND Project is a global Engineering Adventure that aims to set a new land speed record at 1,000 mph while inspiring the next generation to enjoy, explore and get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

To reach this speed, the BLOODHOUND team needed to build a high performance, ultra-reliable car that looks more like a rocket on wheels than something you’d park in your driveway. To power the “car,” the BLOODHOUND Project is using a EUROJET EJ200, (commonly found in the Eurofighter Typhoon) AND a set of Nammo hybrid rockets, which will create more power than ALL the cars on a Formula 1 starting grid combined. The BLOODHOUND Project is using a 550bhp Jaguar Supercharged V8 engine just to pump fuel to the rocket.

Talk about seriously high performance.

At X-IO, we know a thing or two about performance as well.

We understand that to get the highest performance, you need to design and build your project from the ground up. Off the shelf hardware won’t cut it when you’re designing a system that delivers record setting performance, regardless of whether it’s on the Hakskeen Pan of South Africa or in the data center down the hall.

We know that performance matters, but the right level of performance depends on what you need it for. As great as it’d be cut my commute to 90 seconds in the BLOODHOUND car, it’s not practical. I don’t really think I can justify the expense to do something rather routine and mundane faster (also, I don’t know where to find rocket fuel).

There are applications that you run that demand the highest performance and deserve all-flash solutions; think of all-flash as your BLOODHOUND Super Sonic Car.

Hybrid solutions are your Formula 1 cars; when they are on the track they need high performance, but spend most of the time sitting idle in the garage.

And finally you have your daily driver; Ol’ Faithful, Betty, Jenny; whatever gets you to work every day at the same time, day in and day out, regardless of the weather. Think of Jenny as the performance HDD solution that provides consistent, predictable performance, guaranteed availability, simplicity and of course, affordability.
